Anwar, Vice President of Indonesia, will deliver the opening speech at GMBF 2023.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Vice President of Indonesia Dr. Ma’ruf Amin are scheduled to deliver the opening speeches at the gala dinner of the Global Muslim Business Forum (GMBF) 2023 on November 28.

Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, mentioned that Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is also expected to address the gathering at the Borneo Convention Center in Kuching, Sarawak.

“GMBF 2023 aims to be a knowledge hub for governments, companies, and civil society to explore best and innovative practices in various domains such as Islamic finance, green technology, agriculture, entrepreneurship, and the halal industry. Through this forum, governments, companies, international organizations, investors, and civil society can convene to discuss and debate these key issues. This event is a pathway for all to connect, collaborate, and contribute,” he said on Friday.

He stated that 37 countries will participate in GMBF 2023. Awang Tengah mentioned that the forum with the theme ‘Innovation and Transformation in the Islamic Economy’ will take place from November 28 to 30 and is expected to attract approximately 1,000 attendees, including prominent global leaders.

More than 60 leading local and foreign speakers are scheduled to share their knowledge and views on various issues, he added.

Awang Tengah highlighted that GMBF 2023, an ideal platform to connect the Islamic and non-Islamic worlds, is designed to address challenges and opportunities in the Islamic economy with five objectives.

“Among these five objectives is to strengthen the Islamic world by fostering stronger relations and partnerships, especially in the Middle East, Asia, and beyond, as well as promoting investment in countries by exploring new growth opportunities,” he said.

He mentioned that through the forum, leaders can highlight green economy and partnerships for climate action and innovation.

GMBF 2023 is hosted by the Sarawak government and jointly organized by the KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific, the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture (ICCIA), and Global One. Source – Bernama
